This page explains what data Vidimator collects, why, and what happens to it. We've written it to describe exactly what the system actually does — not boilerplate.
1. What We Collect
When you create an account:
- Email address
- Password (stored as a one-way hash — we never store or can see your actual password)
- Channel name, if you provide one
When you use the service:
- Scripts you submit for rendering
- Project names you give your renders
- Which plan, voice, video format (landscape or Short), and render options (music track, HD, cinematic zoom) you use
- How many videos and Shorts you've rendered this period
- Studio only: photos you upload for the custom image feature, and any brand kit video you upload. If a photo you upload shows another real person (not you), we hold it under the same rules as everything else here — see the retention table below — but you are responsible for having the right to use that person's image; see our Terms of Service.
When you pay: we do not collect or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely by Flutterwave; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, plus a reference number. Billing is a one-time payment per period (monthly or yearly), not a stored card charged automatically.
When you use the free public preview (no account): your IP address, to enforce the daily preview limit. This is not linked to any account and is held only in server memory, not stored in our database.
2. How We Use It
- To generate your videos (obviously) — your script text and chosen footage terms are sent to the third-party services below to actually produce the narration and footage.
- To enforce plan limits (how many videos, which voices, which formats and render options you're entitled to).
- To send you account emails: password resets and important service notices, via Resend.
- To keep the service running: debugging failed renders, preventing abuse of the free tier, and backing up account records so a server failure doesn't mean losing your account.
3. Third Parties Your Data Passes Through
Because of how Vidimator works, parts of what you submit are sent to these services to actually produce your video:
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Edge TTS | The text of your script (broken into scenes) | To generate the spoken narration |
| Pexels | Short search phrases derived from your script (not your full script) | To find matching stock footage |
| Flutterwave | Your email and payment details | To process one-time plan payments |
| Resend | Your email address | To deliver password reset emails |
We don't control these services' own data practices beyond what we send them. Microsoft's and Pexels' handling of the data we send is governed by their own privacy policies. Uploaded photos and brand kit videos (Studio) are not sent to any third party — they're used only in your own render, on our own server.
4. How Long We Keep Things
Rendered videos and the scripts behind them are kept only as long as your plan allows, then deleted automatically:
| Plan | Videos kept for |
|---|---|
| Public preview (no account) | 1 day |
| Rough Cut (free) | 7 days |
| Broadcast | 60 days |
| Studio | 180 days |
Uploaded photos (Studio's custom image feature): kept until you delete them yourself from your account. Unlike rendered videos, these are not automatically deleted if you move off the Studio plan — if you stop being a Studio subscriber, your uploaded photos remain on our server until you remove them.
Brand kit video (Studio): kept until you delete it, or until your Studio plan expires — whichever happens first. Losing Studio access automatically removes your brand kit file.
Account records (email, plan, usage history) are kept as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records for tax or legal purposes.
Backups: we keep encrypted daily backups of account data for up to 30 days, purely for disaster recovery if our server fails. These are not used for any other purpose.
5. Your Rights
You can:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your account and associated data
- Export your account information
To do any of these, contact us at [email protected].
6. Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Traffic between you and Vidimator is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to production servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable, active steps to protect your data.
7. Children's Privacy
Vidimator does not currently state a minimum age for use. That said, we do not knowingly collect data from children, and payment for paid plans requires a valid payment card, which in practice requires the account holder to be an adult.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
